Steve Martin is now back in UK/Europe (Feb - Sept 2012)

During the next 8 months, I will be running training courses throughout the UK and around Europe. 

I am based/travel from Manchester, UK. I regularly conduct sidemount talks and presentation evenings for dive centres, so if your interested in attending or having me talk at your centre, then contact me for more details.

Every diver wants to have the "essential" skill set. I believe diving with the correct sidemount configuration provides the right platform needed to achieve this, combine that with a comprehensive sidemount course and you will never go back!!

Pricelist and Bookings Page (click here)This is a website dedicated solely to sidemount scuba diving, you will find useful information, tips and tricks on how to sidemount and the equipment available. Sidemount equipment configuration has traditionally been the preferred choice for advanced cave divers, but now it is becoming very popular for all levels of divers, not just in caves but the open water diving environment as well; in particular with some recreational, technical and advanced wreck divers. I have personally found sidemounting with one or two cylinders more enjoyable for all the diving I do.

This proposal is only available to dive centres, it includes details on any extra training an instructor needs prior to becoming a sidemount instructor. Dive centres please send me an email and include your website address and contact details.

Dive Rite Nomad Expedition Harness/Rig with the Armadillo butt plate. Video shows incorrect trimming of sidemount cylinders, when using the "door handles" to mount the rear of the cylinder the base of the cylinder rides to high. After adjustment trim is corrected, note not using any attachments on the rear of the harness or butt plate.

Want to know more about how your cylinders weight changes during a dive..? Video has information on what effects the weight change and has tests showing cylinders at different air pressures during dives in salt and fresh water. It displays whether they have Negative, Neutral or Positive Buoyancy.

Sidemount is by far the best configuration to use for developing every divers essential skill set. This video highlights what is covered with the side mount essentials training. There is a PADI and PADI TecRec option for divers wanting certification and a non-certification option for experienced divers.
Please note: Single Cylinder (is no longer offered as a stand alone course). It will be included as a workshop with an "optional training dive" with all of the above courses.
