New Sidemount Essentials  Technical training (combined course) options!!
  • All training is customised for each individual based on experience (max x3 people).
  • All courses will be video documented and videos yours to keep after training.
  • A 50 picture photo album and 4 to 5 minute highlight video of your course, will appear on Side Mount Scuba Diving facebook fan page.
  • Check the calendar (view here), dates are semi-flexible meaning they can be moved a few days before or after what is show. The first person to book fixes the exact course dates for any others.

For at least 3 months (July through September), I am based in Gozo (Malta) and operating out of Gozo Technical Diving's facility.

There will be several Sidemount Essentials Courses each month you can join.

Once each 4 day program is complete there will either be extra days allowed for either guided dives, stage/deco cylinder workshops or continuation of sidemount technical training courses (more details are found below).

Advantages of you coming to visit me;

  • Frequent and low cost flights to Gozo (Malta)
  • Accommodation, airport transfers & all logistics can be arranged for you
  • Courses can be completed in 4, 7 or 10 days holidays
  • All sidemount equipment will be provided during training
  • Malta/Gozo offer an array of dive sites (especially wrecks with good visibility)
  • Training can be done in 5mm wetsuits or drysuits (18 to 24*C)
  • All sidemount training will be tailored to you (based on your experience level)
  • Training classes are in small groups (max 3 people)
  • You just need to look for flights & check my available dates (view here)
  • Arrange time off work for yourself (and family if you want to bring)

How do I book…

Drop me an email (sidemounting@gmail.com) with any questions you have, let me know the best dates for you and some information about your diving experience level. Then I will reply with deposit details and answers to your questions, once deposit is paid you are all booked in. If you are the only person on the course, you get me all to yourself (at no extra cost). If I have others joining then it will be a small group size (max of 3 people).

I will help you with airport transfers, training and all your diving logistics, for my recommended accommodation just ask. If you can spare a long weekend/week away, come and join me for a holiday and your sidemount training.

Remember booking early means cheaper flights - Pricelist is available (view here)

I look forward to receiving your email and meeting you in Gozo - Regards, Steve

Dive Rite Nomad Expedition Harness/Rig with the Armadillo butt plate. Video shows incorrect trimming of sidemount cylinders, when using the "door handles" to mount the rear of the cylinder the base of the cylinder rides to high. After adjustment trim is corrected, note not using any attachments on the rear of the harness or butt plate.

Sidemount is by far the best configuration to use for developing every divers essential skill set. This video highlights what is covered with the side mount essentials training. There is a PADI and PADI TecRec option for divers wanting certification and a non-certification option for experienced divers.
Please note: Single Cylinder (is no longer offered as a stand alone course). It will be included as a workshop with an "optional training dive" with all of the above courses.
This video is shot solely with the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition using only our primary cave diving lights. It shows highlights of Jason Renoux & Steve Martin cave diving in Minotauro (Mexico). This is the first of several movies we are making from 1 months of cave diving and exploration. Video setting on Hero 3 were 1080/30 fps with pro-tune turned off.
